Local chiropractors work together

Friday, January 12th, 2007

It’s great when small groups of people work together to serve others.

You may think that a chiropractor in Santa Monica or the Los Angeles area would not be likely to work with other chiropractors in the community. The reality is that nearly all the chiropractors I know in the Los Angeles are get chiropractic care themselves, get chiropractic care for their families, and they use the services of others.

Choosing a chiropractor should not be a difficult task, you want to feel comfortable in your decision and want to feel you made the correct choice.

Some great chiropractors located on the west side include:

  • Dr. Brandon Takahashi of Takahashi Chiropractic which is in West Los Angeles
  • Dr. Luke Cohen of Innate Chiropractic Center whos office is in Pacific Palisades (they also see alot of folks from Thousand Oaks, Malibu, and Brentwood)
  • Dr. Ken Gee Ehrlich from the office of The Good Chiropractor, located in West Los Angeles
  • Dr. Michael Dorausch of ADIO Chiropractic, located in the 90066 area of Marina del Rey.

You should be able to get phone numbers for all the chiropractors mentioned above on the Los Angeles Chiropractors webpage. I believe all offices accept all PPO insurance plans and all offer x-ray services in house.

As always, have a healthy day!

Running the Santa Monica Pier

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

I haved lived in Venice for several years now. When I first moved to the area I thought the distance between the Venice pier (at the end of Washington blvd.) and the Santa Monica pier (at the end of Colorado Blvd.) were miles apart.

Turns out they are miles apart but not as much as they may appear. Back in 2002 I got my first Garmin forerunner, a global GPS tracking device that is used for running and cycling. I began wearing my GPS while running between the piers so I could track my milage.

If you are running along the sand on the shoreline your roundtrip distance, beginning at the southmost pilons (cement poles) of the Santa Monica pier, and turning just under the Venice pier, you’ll total 5.7 miles, just a bit shy of a 10K run.

What is great about running from pier to pier is the fresh breeze comming of the water. You’ll see lot’s of people walking and running this route, especially during times of year (like now) when there are not so many tourists on the beach.

I’ll get a map posted and will add some data from my GPS to these pages so you can get a better idea of running in the area.

I have mapped out many 5K and 10K running maps in Venice, Marina del Rey, and Santa Monica so I may as well post them and make use of the info.

Remember, work hard, run hard, get adjusted!

Everclear Santa Monica not Location Based

Monday, January 8th, 2007

Among the search engine reports for the most popular terms related to, what you may think would be the city of Santa Monica, are some interesting words.

As it turns out, many people are interested in getting more information about Everclear and Santa Monica. We are not talking about Everclear, the 190 proof grain spirit alcohol, which is not legal for sale in the state of California. No, people want information about Everclear the band, and Santa Monica, the song off of their 1995 “Sparkle and Fade” LP. A great album by the way.

If you’re looking for more information about everclear, you can visit their official web site at: http://www.everclearonline.com

You can also get more information on wikipedia: Everclear

Or if you’re looking for lyrics to the song “Santa Monica” you can probably still get those here: http://www.lyricsfreak.com

If that site is not available try this one: lyrics for everclear

The point I wanted to make is that not all “local search” is actually local search. If someone searches for “Everclear Santa Monica” search engines should know they are not looking for a location and should be able to provide appropriate data. In Fact, Everclear is not the only band to have the term Santa Monica related to their music. The band “Theory of a Deadman” had a 2005 CD release titled Gasoline which includes a song called Santa Monica as the fifth track. The band “Fanny Grace” released an independent CD in the late 90s (or 2000) titled Santa Monica. I’ll find a link to that and add it here when I get it.
Now if someone is searching “Santa Monica College” that is more likely a location based, or geo targeted search. In case you stumbled across this page looking for information about the college, here is their address: Santa Monica College - 1900 Pico Boulevard - Santa Monica, California 90405 USA

Here is a Google map link for: Santa Monica College

I’ll get into more regarding location based search, geo targeted search, geo target search exclusions (such as when looking for Everclear lyrics), in future posts.

Of course we’ll also get back to some locally based chiropractic topics like where can you go for x-ray services in Santa Monica, where can you get an MRI in Santa Monica, who are the best chiropractors in town (who I would go to), and other things I feel like writing about.
This is your friendly neighborhood Los Angeles chiropractor, Dr. Michael Dorausch, have an abundant and healthy day!
